this might be an upstream bug. go and check the OpenOffice IssueTracker for memleaks. so far i haven't had any similar bugreport.

you might also try out to run OOo without any java-environment or java-gcj-compat.

please try to reproduce it with the attached files from http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=72498

Same problem. With "repaired" file no change. Scrolling up and down in the page grow memory.
I try disabling java and testing again. Thank you.

hm. i've tried the 2nd attachement from the OOo issuetracker. the memory consumtion for all soffice processes remained constant. but the /usr/bin/X -.... process increased when scrolling. you mean that?

There is a memory leak in the soffice-bin process. It will leak 1MB about each 10 scrolls.

Juan, could you please email me your document to ht990332@gmail.com
It's probably some element in the document that's causing the memleak. I need to find out which.

I grabbed the file from AndyRTR's post and experienced the same problem. I took the image from the file, opened it with Gimp, saved as JPEG, and put the image back with KOffice. The file opens fine in OpenOffice. I open the image again, saved as PNG, put it back, and the file opens fine again in OpenOffice. There is something about that particular image that's causing the problem with that file.

The problem is in the file. I attach the file for your test.

i added all known memleak fixes i could find for version 2.2.1-2. will close this one now. if the problem resists please file an upstream issue to openoffice.org and ask to reopen this bug.
