I think you meant it doesn't work properly WITH libX11-1.1.1-xinitimage.diff. That, I can confirm.

The patch applied is an important security fix. As opera is the only application that crashes, and as opera is closed source software with no possible debug options, I blame opera in this case. Valgrind shows only calls inside the opera binary when things crash, gdb doesn't show anything. Valgrind shows it's a nullpointer dereference inside opera.

I won't update libx11 unless upstream or some other distribution comes up with a fix for this.

That's obviously true, I am aware of opera being the only experienced (AFIK) software that has problems with this patch, so we should of course wait for Opera's response. I am pretty sure they'll provide another build, built against the patched libx11.
