Details

The new package release requires root or special groups privelege to execute. It results in the error "mtr: unable to get raw sockets.".

The problem is /usr/sbin/mtr is no longer suid root in the new package where it is in the prior ones.

Sorry for the wait on this one. The change was made upstream, so I hesitate to change this behavior.

Given that it is installed in sbin, it is intended to be run by an administrator. If you want to change it locally, then go for it.

Closing as a "won't fix" if there are no huge objections.
