When selecting "End Current Session" in KDE's exit screen the screen stays black but i think the system is still running. Going to the console ( using Ctr+Alt+F1 ) and restarting the KDM service the screen locks but i have console access and only sending a reboot i can reclaim the screen.
I've try radeon X.org driver and it worked flawlessly on this symptoms so there's no problem with X or KDE for that matter.

This is rather critical because happens every time, and some times also at shutdown, but not often enough to reproduce it.

I'll send my xorg.conf in attachment.

Side Note: The name of the file is linked to a xorg.conf for configuration switching but only done that so i can switch ondemand after reproduced the bug.

i cannot reproduce it on x86_64 using latest fglrx drivers. i also use kdm a dm.

can you please change your inittab from runlevel 5 to 3 and fire up kdm from command line to see if you can get any helpfull output?

now i have exactly the same but only on x86_64 using the ck-kernel. the stock one still works fine.

Probably not related, but the identifier line for the Mouse1 device section is missing a closing quote, fyi.

Can you try adding this line to your fglrx device section?

Option "KernelModuleParm" "locked-userpages=0"

Tell me if that helps any.

Also, have you tested with/without dual-head setups? I noticed you use cloned desktop - have you tried single-head?

Thanks Travis I haven't noticed that but even after fixing that I'm getting the same results. Can some one use my configurations and try to reproduce the error?

for me helped to add these line to the xorg.conf:

Section "ServerFlags"
Option "AIGLX" "off"
EndSection

Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Disable"
EndSection

Now also ck-Kernel works well with kdm. So check if http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI#Errors_about_AIGLX_in_.2Fvar.2Flog.2FXorg.0.log can help you

I am not sure but this was fglrx bug that was meant to be fixed with the 8.35 release.

The problem is the screen lock, if I do a /etc/rc.d/gdm stop it goes black, and only comes back on a /etc/rc.d/gdm start this using Alt+Ctrl+F1 to get out of X (witch gave me no problem).

I can confirm that update to 8.35 fixed this problem.
