FS#5787 - KDE media notifier daemon does not work on a fresh install
|
Details
I recently did a fresh 0.7.2 install from the new iso
provided at the forums, then installed xorg etc and KDE
3.5.5 from extra. With this constellation, the KDE Media
Notifier Daemon does not start and when i try to start it
manually through kcontrol, i get the error message "The KDE
Media Notifier could not be started".
After starting kded manually in a terminal and kded claiming about a missing libdbus-1.so.2, i created the missing link manually, and it works now: cd /usr/lib sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libdbus-1.so.3.0.0 libdbus-1.so.2 The weird thing is: On my other machine (upgraded from 0.7) with KDE 3.5.5 it works without the libdbus-1.so.2 link in /usr/lib, so i dont know whats happening here :) |

Here is the error message from kded (in german):
kded: WARNING: [KDEDModule* Kded::loadModule(const Kservice*, bool)] Could not load library. [ libdbus-1.so.2: Kann die Shared-Object-Datei nicht öffnen: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden ]
kded: WARNING: [KDEDModule* Kded::loadModule(const Kservice*, bool)] Could not load library. [Bibliotheksdatei libkded_mediamanager.la ist über Ihren PATH nicht auffindbar.]
For more clarity, here is what i have done step by step:
1 - did an install from base-0.7.2-20061104-i686.iso
2 - enabled [community] and pacman -Suy etc...
3 - installed and configured xorg
4 - installed kde with pacman -S kde
6 - added hal, avahi, fam to rc.conf
7 - restarted the system
8 - the error occured
9 - removed kde and qt (pacman -Rd)
10 - tried with my own kde and qt packages
11 - same error
There is also a guy at the german forums who had this error. But he did it the other way: At first he installed my kde packages and when the error occured, he tried the kde from extra, but no chance...
