Propably the problem lies in cdrtools package.

http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28369 describes the problem.
There has been a patch patch to support nls/utf8 character sets in cdrtools. ftp://ftp.zeist.de/pub/distfiles/noboru_nls_patch_20041227.txt.gz

Well, i managed to solve the problem.

I downloaded the cdrtools package from here ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/cdrtools-2.01.01a01.tar.bz2
applied the patch from here http://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=52097
Compiled, and problem solved.

This is a major mulfunction for the cdrtools package. It should be fixed.
