Hi, I'm using testing tree.
I just made an upgrade but now wireless (centrino ipw2200) doesn't works! I don't know if it's a kernel or a udev problem.
If I try to modprobe ipw2200 I get:

WARNING: Error inserting ieee80211_crypt (/lib/modules/2.6.14-ARCH/net/ieee80211/ieee80211_crypt.ko): Invalid module format
WARNING: Error inserting ieee80211 (/lib/modules/2.6.14-ARCH/net/ieee80211/ieee80211.ko): Invalid module format
FATAL: Error inserting ipw2200 (/lib/modules/2.6.14-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ipw2200/ipw2200.ko): Invalid module format

I try to rebuild ipw2200 pkg with "srcpac -Sb ipw2200" but I got a lot of errors

Hi Claudio,

Please try the new kernel26-2.6.14.3-2 going up to Testing right now. It includes the drivers for ipw2100, ipw2200, hostap-driver26 and ieee80211.

The ipw2?00 packages are still required for the closed-source firmware, however. There are new ipw packages in Testing as well.

Hi Judd, new packages are in testing but database is not update

Something has gone wrong with the testing database - even on ftp.archlinux.org it is already 3 days old:
testing.db.tar.gz 8 KB 12/06/2005 08:19:00 PM

same thing on mirrors as well.
meanwhile the packages are being updated as usual.

This is because one developer has pulled a no-no and committed a package update without actually uploading the package!

Until he fixes it, Testing is more or less frozen.

Update: problem seems to have been fixed now. I've rebuilt testing on the master server, so mirrors should update soon.

Hi Judd, now the system try to load /lib/firmware/ipw-2.2-boot.fw but ipw2200 supply /lib/firmware/ipw-2.4-boot.fw

Hi Claudio,

Okay. I don't know much about this firmware business, so I'll need your help to test. If you create symlinks to the real names and name them the way ipw2200.ko expects, does it work?

These are the names that the module is looking for:

ipw-2.2-boot.fw
ipw-2.2-ibss_ucode.fw
ipw-2.2-ibss.fw
ipw-2.2-bss_ucode.fw
ipw-2.2-bss.fw

If it's as simple as that, then I can rebuild ipw2200 to include the symlinks. On the other hand, this may do something unexpected, like freeze your system.

just tried the symlinks, works fine for me.

I did symlink for every file ipw-2.4* to ipw-2.2* and now works well! :)
Thanks Judd! You just have to create link in ipw2200 pkg.
