I did a pacman -Syu on 1-dec-05, which updated most of my
GNOME packages. Now, my Microsoft keyboard (connected with a
PS/2 plug) doesn't work under GNOME any longer. It works
fine in Windowmaker, but not in GNOME. Starting
gnome-sessions-daemon in Windowmaker stopps the keyboard,
too. So I guess it's a problem with GNOME's keyboard
settings.
Both existing and newly added user exhibit this problem. |

there is a workaround. try setting your keyboard to a "Generic" keyboard layout. logout and login, this should make your keyboard work again.
Here's the error message I get when starting gnome-settings-daemon:
[rb@karoshi ~] $ /opt/gnome/libexec/gnome-settings-daemon
[1133519871,000,xklavier.c:XklStartListen/] The backend does not require manual layout management - but it is provided by the application[1133519872,000,xklavier_config_xkb.c:_XklConfigGetKeyboard/] Could not open the temporary xkm file /tmp/fileg0ER2Q
** (gnome-settings-daemon:4924): WARNING **: Could not activate the XKB configuration
seems this is the same trouble...
