Description: When upgrading gdm to version 2.28.1-2, I get
the following:
warning: directory permissions differ on var/run/gdm/ filesystem: 1775 package: 1777 warning: directory permissions differ on var/log/gdm/ filesystem: 1770 package: 755 usermod: no changes Additional info: * package version(s) 2.28.1-2 Steps to reproduce: Upgrade gdm to 2.28.1-2. Reason for closing: Won't fix
Additional comments about closing: gdm will fix these permissions as soon as it's launched. Pacman does not change permissions on directories, so this warning is harmless.
Because ownership has to be set from post_upgrade, this warning can be hard to fix.

I didn't realize how old that forum thread was. I installed gnome
(new machine) on Oct 25.
gdm adjusts these permissions when it is launched, so that's why
you get these warnings. During the build, the gdm user does not
exist, so the make install process doesn't set permissions
correctly.
