Description:
after updating to kernel 2.6.31.3 my laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 (xf86-video-ati 6.12.4) freezes during boot. Switching off with power button is needed. With no settings (KMS switches to native resolution) it freeses when X is suposed to start just login promt is displayed, though logging in is impossible. With KMS disabled it freezes when udev is busy or when mounting filesystems. Tried with framebuffer disabled. Tried nomodeset at kernel line. With 2.6.30 everything goes fine. Additional info: Logs shows no errors, probably nothing is written to them before freeze. Steps to reproduce: Upgrade to kernel 2.6.31.3 with ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 and reboot. |
This task depends upon
With no settings (radeon in Modules of mkinitcpio.conf), the system hangs when loading modules; after that power button is the only way to go...
Didn't yet try it with KMS disabled.
Didn't want to hijack this thread, hope it helps!
All GUI draws very slow, but glxgears FPS the same with both drivers.
Hardware:
Video: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV516 [Mobility Radeon X1350]
Notebook: HP8320s
for the rest the issue seems solved.
