The alpha version is there because it uses KDE4.
Did you bother tou check &/or report upstream bugs or you just wrote your stuff here?

Feel free to build k3b for kde3 by using old PKGBUILD, it was moved in by accident some time ago.
For cd ripping you can use the standard audiocd:/ slave provided by kde.

To Tobias: That's what I had to do.

To Greg: Using Kde4 is not a good reason to be included in extra. What is the concept of "testing" vs "extra"? Did I miss something?

To both of you: What I am reporting is not a bug against k3b. As Greg suggests there is bugs.kde.org for that. The real bug is against archlinux's decision to include crappy software in its supposedly "stable" repos.
Now, as usual, I'm free to rebuild the packages I need to just perform my favourite tasks.

Incidentally, none of those bugs are reported upstream.

I also encountered numerous, but random (i.e. non reproductible) full kde crashes with this alpha k3b. That adds to the "crappy side" of this version.

For those who may be interested, the k3b bugs are now files upstream (197631 - 197632 - 197633).

@Paul: Please choose a more descriptive title next time, I just filed a duplicate bug report after doing a search.

@Clemens: I take your point. There are not too many k3b open bugs however...

@All: For those who are interested, upstream bug #197632 (K3b does not rip into ogg other than at 128 kbps) has just been fixed in svn.

For those who are interested, upstream bug #197633 (K3b does not seem to remember any settings (e.g. temp directory location) is also fixed in svn.

Still one to go...

For those who are interested, upstream bug #197631 (Flac ripping) is also fixed in 1.68

This bug is now resolved on the k3b side.

It looks like these should be fixed in 1.69.0alpha4-1. Can anyone confirm/deny?
Comment by paul (pwt) - Sunday, 06 December 2009, 21:07 GMT
It was already fixed in 1.68 alpha3 - see my posts above :).
