In order to work properly, gnash requires the group gstreamer0.10-plugins which immediately provides gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg.

Without this, gnash will still work, but it appears slow and with many artifacts. It was not until today that I managed to see the error popup which notified me that it needs gnash-ffmpeg to work properly (I think the reason I was not able to previously see it is because it was hidden behind the flash itself or the grey placeholder box).

After installing gstreamer0.10-plugins, gnash runs perfectly.

I would like to request that the following dependencies be added to the gnash-common package:

gstreamer0.10-plugins

Note that the required packages are NOT provided by gstreamer0.10-base, which is already a listed dependency.

Regards,

Altrus

i can confirm that gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg is needed for gnash to work well

why not just depend on gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg?
although, if it works (even if only poorly), this would seem like a place for an optdepend.
but i do agree, gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg should at least be mentioned on install
