After yesterday's upgrade the result is the same.

Now with:

local/gnome-screensaver 2.26.0-1 (gnome)
local/gnome-power-manager 2.26.0-1 (gnome-extra)

Are you sure this isn't due to updates in Xorg which were moved at the same time?

Jan de Groot,

I'm not sure it's due to the updates of the Xorg, but there is a entry at the forums with some people with this issue:

http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=535125

How can I check if it is related to Xorg?
Does it also happens to you?

Also I noticed that when I close the lid, on battery, the laptop does not suspends and does not starts screensaver.
g-p-m configured to suspend on lid close in battery profile.

Also in AC power profile does not start gnome-screensaver at lid close.

I can confirm this issue. When, for example, setting the blank screen in g-p-m to 1 minute, it doesn't act on it. Someone on the forum pointed out this bug in the gnome bug tracker: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=576169

Updating to the svn version of g-p-c resolves the issue. Looks like an upstream bug.

In ubuntu 9.04 (beta), it's used the old version os the afected packages (gnome-screensaver and g-p-m), 2.24, and it works as expected, like Archlinux before upgrade to 2.26.
It's possible to "downgrade" until this issue is resolved upstream, what I mean is, an Archlinux Gnome Devs decision to do so, or it's against some kind of Distro Policy?

I have the same problem

I can confirm as well - problem still exists with latest updates. One thing I've noticed is that the screen will power down if sitting at the GDM login box. But if a user session is active the screen never turns off.

My problem is the very exact opposite (system fully updated with testing)

No matter how I set the power management (that is, sleep in 2h, never etc.), the monitor goes to sleep after ~1 minute of idling. It was fine two weeks ago or so.

Is this still an issue with gnome-power-manager 2.26.2?
