I have the same issue. Further the ldap address book is also dead. I have the latest openldap installed. No error msg at all running Ekiga, though, so it is quite useless. Fortunately I have skype and amsn-svn :-)

I downgraded back to

ekiga 3.0.2-1
opal 3.4.4-2
ptlib 2.4.4-1

and everything works fine. It's evident that the new version is not working.

downgrading did not work for me. I got an error about /usr/lib/libx264.so.65 that it could not find. Even tried mv /usr/lib/libx264.so.66 /usr/lib/libx264.so.65, but it did not help. Maybe I should try symlinking. But now I have completely uninstalled ekiga, opal and ptlib. Maybe I will try later with the symlink.

I downgraded that package, too.

same here. reported upstream: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=578431
you have to downgrade: ekiga, opal, ptlib and x264 (with -Ud)

It is an Arch Linux specific problem, becase Ekiga 3.2.0 works perfectly in Ubuntu 9.04.

any steps taken to get ekiga up and running?

finally got it to work with some help from gimpnet #ekiga.

There are several weaknesses or "bugs" in ekiga. One is that there is a delay to contact sip:500@ekiga.net up to 2 minutes. An other is that the app often hangs and won't exit. All known ekiga bugs.

I also experienced difficulties in setting up the mic. Mixer applet in panel is quite useless. I needed to download gnome-alsamixer and enable mic recording and capture recording, and it just did not want to save the changes. This is something that comes and goes in gnome and checking gnome-alsamixer now and then and enabling rec usually fixes it.

Please try the new ekiga package which has entered extra a few minutes ago.
