Description:
I'm using the stable version of archlinux, and I keep updated daily.
It's a couple of days that thunderbird crashes badly when I try to paste
something into the compose message windows.

It's not something that happens when copying from every application, but always if I copy something from the gvim interface (select text and try to paste using mouse central button into the compose windows of thunderbird)

A complete trace is attached.

I'm reporting it here and not mainstream because the thunderbird version is unchanged, and the problem started without
change in my configuration so it's maybe related to archlinux related libraries.

Steps to reproduce:
Open compose message windows
Paste something (from clipboard, using the mouse central button)

Confirmed, it segfaults on pasting to the message body (you can still paste to the subject line though).

Hi,

I used to have a related issue too. I couldn't paste in the composing window with the middle button of my mouse. I googled for a while and in the end I have found out that the gvfs package is required in order to this feature to work. So I wonder if this package should be included as a dependency of thunderbird or, at least, recommended for installation.

Best regards!

Thunderbird has nothing to do with gvfs. GIO/GVFS support might get included in firefox 4.0, so GVFS can't have anything to do with this.

I'm not an expert at all regarding this issue. The only thing I can offer is the fact that after installing gvfs package I could paste with the middle mouse button in the compose window. Otherwise it is imposible to do so. Thus, it seems there is something there. Just in case it might have something to do, I don't used Gnome but KDE4.

Regards!

Does this still apply?
This bug report is a bit old and thunderbird already received a few updates.
I can't reproduce the problem, pasting with the middle mouse button works fine (thunderbird 2.0.0.22-1).
