Description: NFS clients don't remount shares properly when Arch server reboots. When you do ls -l, the share information says "???? ????? ??" for all the fields, and permission is denied. Have to unmount and the remount share.

Additional info:
Seems similar to this old bug:
http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/7368

but changing config file to match that .diff file didn't work for me.

Steps to reproduce: mount nfs share on a client, reboot arch server.

It's always done it as far as I can tell.

I have some very old arch installs (kernel 2.6.12) era that don't seem to have this issue...

okay, well the latest ones do. I think I installed x86_64 last jan or feb, and it's happened since then. The link to the old bug was to june 07, so it's happened in some form since then, also. Not sure what kernel or nfs versions were in use back then.

what is the current status of this issue?

It's still not working right as far as I can tell. Will let you know on next kernel update/reboot.

please give latest nfs-utils a shot from testing if it is fixed, new daemons are called nfs-common and nfs-server.

I installed nfs-utils from testing. There is no nfs-common or nfs-server in the testing repo or on my computer that I can see. I then:

1. restarted /etc/rc.d/nfsd
2. mounted shares on client
3. verified they were mounted
4. rebooted arch server

Shares on client now give "permission denied" error, need to be unmounted manually and remounted.

the daemons are now called nfs-common and nfs-server ;)

I understand that. That's what they're called in debian, too (nfs-kernel-server, actually), and they reside in /etc/init.d. But there is no nfs-server or nfs-common package in /etc/rc.d or that I can see anywhere in any Arch repo, and after installing nfs-utils from testing they are still nowhere to be seen on my system. So where exactly are these daemons? ;-)

[tobias@LX-Laptop ~]$ pacman -Qo /etc/rc.d/nfs-server
/etc/rc.d/nfs-server ist in nfs-utils 1.2.0-1 enthalten

Okay - sorry! I have no idea what happened. I installed from testing yesterday and those files weren't there, but after reinstalling this morning they suddenly appeared.

I'm also happy to report that after rebooting, the shares still appear to be mounted correctly on the client. I haven't had a chance to look at all my clients yet, but so far it looks good. thanks.
