Since the last update of Xlib, when I launch a graphical app I get the following warning :

Xlib: extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display ":0.0"

It appears that Xlib was compiled with generic event extension (XGE) but the x server was not. While this is not harmful, xorg-server should be recompiled with XGE.

I agree with dolby - anything we can do about this so we don't get all these reports?

There's no "recompile for XGE" or "libx11 1.1.93 without XGE". The only way to get rid of these warnings is to upgrade to xorg-server 1.6 which supports XGE.

Jan, out of curiosity, why don't we have xorg-server 1.6? There's probably a sane reason, I just see a lot of these bug reports and wanted to get a concrete answer for people.

Because it isn't released yet? The last release candidate has been released yesterday, and I don't have the superpowers that I used to have. I can't package something one minute after release anymore these days.

I think what Aaron meant to ask is why did those packages get upgraded, namely libx11 to a devel version, without having xorg-server 1.6.
Not why isnt xorg-server in the repos yet. :)

Yeah, I guess what I was asking is: is it the Xorg devs smoking crack here? Did they release libs without releasing the server?
