Description:

Unable to install Arch or Chakra(from what i understand its just Arch with a preinstalled KDE and some other small stuff) to a Fujtisu Siemens Amilo PA 3553.
Se added file for hardware info

Addition info:
*Hardware file from a Debian Etch installation i was going to replace.

Steps to reproduce:

Attempt to install either arkitekture on a Fujtisu Siemens Amilo PA 3553. After booting the CD or USB(attempted both in both 64 and 32 bit) Arch will stop after checking someting about if the hardware check of some sort. It just stops and it does not load any more from CD nor USB.

Note: When attempting to get in Chakra, it stops after getting in X, no background and the cursor is a cross, turns into the default cursor after 1 ctrl+alt+backspace, but does not load any further. Attempted to load it on another computer since Chakra is a live CD, and it did get up and work perfectly.

If this is a Chakra bug, please file it in their bug tracker. If not, please be more specific as to where it hangs - "the hardware check of some sort" is very non-specific.

That picture is what happens if i do attempt to install Arch.
Sorry for bringing in confusion by adding in Chakra to this report, but i thought it was logical since it basicaly was "the" Arch live CD with KDE.

Which ISO did you use?
Comment by Gerhard Brauer (GerBra) - Thursday, 05 February 2009, 14:46 GMT
Try booting the ISO with acpi=off. I saw this on many new boards (mainly Asus). With acpi disabled the ISO boot, after installation (better use direct the FTP as source) ACPI is full functionable (with 2.6.28 this kernelparameter isn't needed).

Problem encountered: No setting for acpi in bios <.<
