Whenever I hibernate (using the acpi + pm_utilities I think), I have to push down any key to get my system to resume (after turning the computer on)

Whenever I suspend, I have to explicitly push down my power button to get my system to resume. Pushing other keys has no effect. Push the power button twice...one to turn on the computer, once more to get to the desktop.

The only thing that even remotely relates to this problem is the fact that after I added cpu scaling to my computer, I had to hold down a key to get past the initial bootup (when loading modules) but fixed that with "hpet=disable.

Attached is the /var/log/messages.log for both suspend and hibernate

Sorry, I forgot to mention I'm using the [testing] kernel 2.6.28 from the 7th I believe. I pretty much followed the wiki to get hibernate and suspend working, so I'm not doing anything crazy in my config files.

of course you have problems when you have disabled timer. maybe you can try to play with few kernel options
google those: hpet, noapic, nohz, divider, tickless kernel

all those timer/clock options can be very tricky for example you can lose lot of packets when using noapic with some NIC drivers so your network will become very slow without any obvious reason (like in my case few months before)
