After updating to the latest kernel (2.6.27) through pacman, the integrated NIC started to show constantly increasing drop.

here:

Yes, this is somewhat crazy numbers, i've got that last 5 lines in 2-3 secons from the ifconfig output.

Intergrate NIC on Gigabyte's G31-S2L Mainboard:

just rolled back to 2.6.26, and it's show's drop too, sorry for disinformation, maybe i just haven't noticed that before.

compiled & installed Realtek's r8168 driver from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false, that driver works fine for me:

eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:1D:7D:71:4A:EE
inet addr:192.168.1.100 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:44355 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:67942 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:4492727 (4.2 Mb) TX bytes:81823613 (78.0 Mb)
Interrupt:253 Base address:0xc000

but is there a way to use standard r8169 drivers or get fix for them ?

Category probably shoult be changed from "System" to "Kernel".

Could you please search the kernel.org bugtracker for this problem?
