Description:

The up-to-date kernel for Arch64 has compiled, and is looking for modules in the /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/arch/x86 directory. Additionally, no /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/arch/x86_64 directory has been created. It appears that the system runs normally, but it is possible (and confirmed in certain cases) that this is causing issues with ACPI and other system modules and thereby causing severe total system freezes.

Additional info:

Package version:
kernel26 version 2.6.26.2-1 for x86_64

See http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=408280 for complete info, but a summary is below.

modprobe acpi results in:

FATAL: Error inserting acpi_cpureq (/lib/modules/2.6.26-ARCH/kernel/arch/x86/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/acpi-cpufreq.ko): No such device

ls /lib/modules/2.6.26-ARCH/kernel/kernel/arch results in:

Reason for closing:  Not a bug

Wow, guys! Thanks for the quick response in getting this at least assigned :D I'm sure it's not a terribly life-threatening fix, and that it'll get sorted out quickly.

Umm I guess I should probably read the Changelogs next time :/

"The x86 merge modified the tags target to handle the two separate
source directories. Remove it now that i386/x86_64 are gone completely."

So, I guess the x86 directory is now used for both 32 and 64 bit. Sorry about that confusion. I'll not request closure yet on this bug, since the problem still stands that the ACPI module doesn't exist there.

Sorry everyone. There is nothing wrong with the kernel package. My mistake.
