Description:
Eclipse freezes during startup. Cannot start application.

extra/jre 6u5-1
extra/jdk 6u5-1

Helps: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/java/jre/lib/i386/client::/opt/java/jre/lib/i386
But that should be done by the default.

I confirm this bug. It started some weeks ago, the solution proposed above works.

I used the following workaround (I'm using Eclipse 3.4M6a)

add this to the bottom of you config.ini file under eclipse directory
-Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath=/usr/share/idl/xulrunner-1.8.1.13

my workaround should be to update eclipse.ini not config.ini

running "eclipse" from instead of "/usr/share/eclipse/eclipse" worked for me.

I'm switching to binaries in extra for eclipse. This should hopefully resolve all these problems, get us all onto Ganymeade, and improve the speed of future updates.
