This bug relates to the new AMD 64 ISO -- version 2008.04-RC.
(The bug tracker will not let me choose any other version other than 2007.08-2. another bug? :-) )

I just burned the new Arch AMD64 2008.04-RC to a CD and gave it a go on my Mac Pro.

It runs and boots!! Quite an accomplishment since most Linux LiveCD's (including old versions of Arch) do NOT boot properly on my Mac Pro Tower. My Mac Pro usually hangs with a black screen of death.

But very time I boot off the new AMD 64 2008.04-RC CD, the tray on my second DVD Burner Drive ejects during the udev probing stage.

I have not had a chance to actually install Arch64 using the AMD 64 2008.04-RC CD. So I am not sure whether this small bug also occurs when booting Arch 64 off the hard disk.

P.S. P.S. The only other Linux CD that seems to boot off this Mac Pro Tower is Ubuntu Gusty Gibbon and the tray on my second DVD burner do NOT open during bootup of the Gutsy Gibbon LiveCD.
This task depends upon

Reason for closing:  Fixed
Additional comments about closing:  autoeject features cause udevadm trigger to always eject unmounted drives.

I know aaron thought this was cute, but it's kinda annoying :)

It looks like I am not alone.

I see that Pierre Schmitz noted this bug on the Arch General mailing list.

This does not only affect amd64, but i686, too. And it seems to eject the first cd drive, too.

Interesting. My tray on my first CD-DVD Drive did not eject.
I was booting Arch 2008.04-RC off the first CD-DVD Drive. Maybe that was the reason it did not eject the tray on this drive.
On my Mac Pro, only the tray on the second CD-DVD Burner drive ejected.

I want to say this is something to do with udev, but I'm not sure. Gotta get my machine to do it, heh.

I am not sure it helps. But I am using ATAPI DVD Burner drives. (i.e. Two PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D Drives on a Mac Pro Tower).

What's the status of this issue?

I think the bug still exists. I have not seen a new RC for 2008.04. If there has been udev update, please consider releasing a new RC. Perhaps a new udev update will kill this bug.

this occurs when udevadm trigger is run in rc.sysinit.
