Description: Since updating to GNOME-2.22.0, f-spot no
longer imports photos from camera or memory card.

I am having the same issue.
I do not think this is a bug from libgphoto2, I am able to fetch my photos using the command gphoto2 --get-all-files.
But I tried it as root. I will try it as a normal user and put my comments back here.
Then I was able to import my photos with f-spot from the directory on my filesystem, where I fetched my photos from my camera.
So the problem is really related to importing from a camera (not a directory).
I have not found any related issues on f-spot's bugtracker.

This may (or not) be related to mono problems identified in bug http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/10123.
This will have to be checked with mono/f-spot devs as long as we are sure that f-spot or mono is guilty (and not libgphot2, hal or other apps).
Neil, until this is fixed you can you use the command 'gphoto2 --get-all-files' to fetch you photos from your camera.
For the time being, I am resorting to drag-and-drop from a nautilus browser window (from media card) into f-spot's image browser window.
There are a number of niggling issues in gnome-2.22.0 like this. Let's hope the 2.22.1 packages start appearing soon.

I think this bug can be closed, since it is an upstream bug.
Looking at the svn fix you quoted, it appears to be libgphoto2 related. Does libgphoto2 participate in media card imports?

Copy the f-spot directory from abs and try the attached patch + PKGBUILD.
It solved the problem for me and will hopefully solve the problem for you.
The fix has also been backported to version 0.4.2 in f-spot SVN. You can also build from there without using the patch.

1) Attempting to import from the camera over a USB cable gave an error that the USB device could not be claimed - yes I am a member of group camera.
2) Attempting to import from the media card still crashes f-spot.
I guess (1) could be UDEV related but, to be honest, I'm getting a bit disheartened with the state of GNOME-2.22.x in Archlinux and I might look elsewhere.
